People have always been our Energy: the challenge of the energy transition, in parallel with the digital transformation, is first and foremost a process that is profoundly human.
Valuing the individual in all phases of working life is our top commitment: that is why we created the Statuto della Persona (the Charter of the Person) that we have signed with FILCTEM, FLAEI and UILTEC.
For us, care and attention are part and parcel of the continuous development of skills and talent. In 2021 approximately 1,400,000 hours of training were held to boost the professional skills of all the people at Enel.
Inclusion, wellbeing and work-life balance have always been our priority for the 31,073 people who work with us, around 17,000 of whom are now working remotely. We offer a structured approach to company welfare including wellbeing services (nutritionists, babysitting, sustainable mobility, psychological counseling and parental support) and initiatives to promote inclusion (university courses for the over 50s, projects concerning disability, awareness raising initiatives about gender issues, sexual identity and multiculturalism).
For us sustainability is the ability to create long-term shared value with and for all our stakeholders. There is no such thing as sustainability without people, who are the real engine for change. That commitment lies at the heart of our daily work which we carry out with many innovative projects. These are designed to enhance people’s well-being and their talent, and to train youngsters for the work of the future which will be increasingly focused on ESG skills.
We support gender equality by fostering the presence of female employees in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) areas: roughly 65% of the women who were hired in 2021 have a STEM degree. We are committed to increasing the amount of women in the hiring process to at least 50%.
